Goondiwindi Sold to South Australians

Goondiwindi will be “sold” to South Australians with the commencement of the Adelaide Caravan and Camping Show from February 13.

Goondiwindi’s place at the Show comes via its membership of the Leichhardt Highway Promotions Committee which for the first time will work in partnership with the Newell Highway Promotions Committee.  The two highway groups will share a stand at the four day event.

Vice Chair of the Leichhardt Highway Promotions Committee and Goondiwindi Town Councillor, David McMahon, said this joint working arrangement means good news for Goondiwindi and District.

“Goondiwindi will be promoted at a major Caravan and Camping Show and ensures that visitors travelling north for the winter months have information on hand that entices them to spend a few days in the town and district.”

“We must endeavour to turn visitor overnight stays into a stay comprising two or three days.”

“From my experience people are pleasantly surprised when they drive into Goondiwindi commenting on how clean and green the town is.  First impressions do count and there are people that have stayed seven nights because they like the look and feel of Goondiwindi.”

Cr McMahon said that the Leichhardt Highway Promotions Committee would be looking to promote its towns at other caravan and camping shows across Australia.

“Let’s tackle the South Australian market first and see if we sell Goondiwindi to them and create some increased economic activity from our joint initiative. That’s really why we exist” Cr McMahon concluded
